Dr. Hakki Refai brings over two decades of experience in the design and development of advanced optical and optomechanical systems, specializing in next-generation display, sensing, and imaging technologies. As Chief Technology Officer at Optecks, he leads a world-class engineering team dedicated to transforming bold ideas into first-of-their-kind optical display solutions, precisely tailored to each customer’s unique requirements.
With a strong foundation in applied physics and deep expertise in optical engineering, Dr. Refai has pioneered innovative projection and display architectures now used across aerospace, biomedical, automotive, and defense applications. His work bridges scientific innovation with real-world performance, helping clients achieve clarity, precision, and reliability in the most demanding environments.
Dr. Refai has co-authored 13 issued U.S. patents—including seven owned by Optecks—and holds three additional patents pending, reflecting his ongoing drive for innovation. He has also contributed to more than 30 technical publications and has served since 2016 on the program committee for the Emerging Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) Based Systems and Applications conference at Photonics West, one of the industry’s leading forums for optical display advancement.
